How to stop feeling lost in life
Feeling lost and unsure of what to do in life, even if you already have a career or are pursuing one, is completely normal. Life offers so many choices, and it’s difficult to know which path will bring you fulfillment—one you’ll truly enjoy, excel at, and feel productive doing. The uncertainty can feel overwhelming, but it’s important to remember this:
Just do what you can in the moment.
If all you can manage today is to get up and record a TikTok video after months of fearing whether it will be successful, then do it, my love. You’ll never know unless you try. It’s okay to be scared; after all, you’re venturing into new waters. It’s okay to feel lost, too. No one is perfect at something until they’ve had experience with it, and it’s okay to be bad at it at first. What matters is that you enjoy what you’re doing.
Don’t be a slave to the world’s expectations. Too often, we try to fit into others’ ideas of success just to avoid judgment. But the truth is, most people’s opinions about you last a minute in a day that has 1,440 minutes. Their judgment doesn’t have the power to define you—your own thoughts do.
It’s okay to look “dumb,” and it’s okay not to know. With time, you will learn. If you find that something doesn’t resonate with you, it’s okay to walk away and pursue something else. Trial and error is how we grow. Failing at something doesn’t mean it isn’t meant for you; it means you’re learning.
The people who seem to have it all figured out are probably just as lost as you are. No one has a perfect life script, and losing one battle doesn’t mean you’ve lost the entire war. If it feels hard, take a break, but don’t stop doing what you love. What matters is pursuing your passion—not living for others’ expectations.
Don’t let fear of failure or judgment hold you back. It’s okay to cry when things get tough, but then get up, dust yourself off, and keep going. Pursue yourself, not others. You have every right to follow your own path, even if it doesn’t align with what others think is “cool.”
Your own thoughts about yourself matter more than anyone else’s opinions. Stop giving so much power to the judgment of others, and start living for yourself. You are worthy of pursuing what makes you happy, no matter what anyone else thinks.
